All SAMSA safety requirements must be adhered to.

 

Engine >15HP:

Current valid Certificate of Fitness (COF) and Skippers License (COC)

Note: Boats may not be launched without current valid documents. Expired certificates will not be accepted unless approved by SAMSA.

DWS: LEGAL REQUIREMENT SUMMARY

Times On & Off Water 

Boats must be launched from the jetty and can be launched from sunrise. 

All boats must be off the water by 6PM (Summer) or 5PM (Winter).

Day Visitor boats must be washed and vehicles must exit gates latest by 7PM (Summer) or 5PM (June /July) when gates are locked. 

Boskop Dam Access & No Go Areas

Clients are solely responsible to familiarise themselves with Boskop Dams Zones before accessing the dam. 

Nature Conservation: No motorised boats (including with trolling motors ) are allowed in Nature Conservation Zone. 

No entry into any buoyed-off or “No Go” zones including the dam wall as per the Boskop Dam Surface map.

NATURE CONSERVATION

No Speeding

Boats may only travel at idle speed. Engage gear – No Acceleration

No Speeding (& No Skiing.)

Children

Children are required to wear a life jacket at all times when on the water. 

No children may operate a boat unless licensed and accompanied by an adult. 

Alcohol

Boats may not be operated by a skipper under the influence of alcohol.

General

Boats must be washed before and after leaving the water. 

Kick-boats and yachts have right of way. Courtesy between boats must be adhered to.

No swimming will be permitted in the dam for safety reasons. 

Incident Reports 

Skippers are responsible to report Incidents to DWS as per attached Marine Incident Report. 

Non Compliance

Clients must adhere to all SAMSA and Boskop Dam's water use rules.

Clients may be asked to leave the water and future access via TangleWood denied in event of non compliance.
